Your Privacy on Zafrat
Last updated:
Privacy is part of making Zafrat feel comfortable. This page explains what data we use, why we use it, how we protect or share it, and what choices you have.
1. Who we are
Zafrat operates the Service and is responsible for processing the data described here. Have a privacy question? Reach us through our contact form.
2. Information we collect
a. What you provide
- What you write, an optional feeling, and an optional display name. This content is shown publicly, without an account.
b. Data collected automatically for security and abuse prevention
- IP address, for website security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.
- Browser/device type and user-agent, browser language, referring page, request method and path, and timestamps.
- An activity log and audit trail linking this data to actions (such as posting, reacting, and reporting).
c. Data stored on your device
- Your preferences, such as light/dark theme, and your reactions are stored locally in your browser and are not sent to our servers.
3. Cookies & similar technologies
- Essential: a CSRF-protection cookie and a session cookie, necessary to operate and secure the Service.
We use only essential cookies. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings.
4. How we use data
- To operate and provide the Service and its features.
- To protect the Service, prevent abuse and fraud, and enforce our Terms.
- To review reported content and respond to reports.
- To improve the Service and the user experience.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
5. Legal bases for processing
If you are in a region that applies laws such as the GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and legal obligation where applicable.
6. Sharing & disclosure
- Service providers: parties that help us operate and improve the site, under contractual obligations.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose data where required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to prevent abuse.
- Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, data may be transferred as part of the transaction.
We do not sell your personal data.
7. Third-party services
We may rely on service providers to operate and improve the site. Their processing of your data is subject to their own privacy policies.
8. International transfers
Your data may be processed or stored in countries other than your own, where data-protection laws may differ. We take reasonable steps to protect your data in line with this policy and applicable law.
9. Data retention
We keep data for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, especially abuse prevention, security, and legal compliance. After that, we delete or anonymize it. Activity logs are typically deleted after a defined retention period that the operator can configure.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. However, no method of transmission or storage is entirely risk-free, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
11. Your rights
Depending on your local laws, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, or to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, reach us through our contact form. Because Zafrat does not ask for an account or name, we may be unable to link a request to specific data without enough identifying information, and we may ask for reasonable identity verification.
12. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If we learn that we have collected data from a child below the permitted age without guardian consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
13. Tracking choices
The Service may not respond uniformly to "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals because there is no agreed standard. However, we honor applicable consent mechanisms where required by law.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates take effect when posted with a revised "Last updated" date, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated version.
15. Contact us
For any privacy questions or requests, send them through our contact form.
